Genesis Constitution
1. Club Ownership
1.1 The club is a non-profit making organisation owned by all members equally with no members having greater or lesser rights due to their position within the club.
2. Club Members
2.1 Anyone is entitled to apply for membership, and membership is
conferred upon payment of the membership fee. The membership fee is
non-refundable.
2.2 Membership is for the period of one year, after which members are
required to renew their membership, with the appropriate fee.
2.3 Those
attending meetings are required to treat each other with respect and refrain
from abusive or violent language and behaviour.
2.3a The committee reserves the right, on a majority vote of the club members, to revoke club and committee membership for any individual whose actions put any member, potential member, or reputation of the club at risk.
2.4 Committee members have
the authority to ask any member or non-member failing to comply with 2.3 to
leave a club meeting.
2.5 The committee, on a majority vote, has the
authority to withdraw membership from a member who commits a serious or
repeated breach of club rules.
2.6 A committee member who is found to be in
breach of behaviour protocols may be asked to step down from the committee, on
a majority vote of the remaining committee members.
3. Meetings
3.1 The club will endeavour to meet on average once every four
weeks.
3.2 Club meetings are open to both members and general public,
although the club reserves the right to refuse admission.
3.3 An entrance
fee will be charged for club meetings to cover costs incurred by the meeting.
Club members pay a reduced entrance fee.
4. Annual General Meeting (AGM)
4.1 An Annual General Meeting will be held once each year.
5. The Committee
5.1 The committee is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of
the club.
5.2 Committee members will endeavour to do what is required of
them, and any other duties that they volunteer themselves
5.3 Committee
positions are: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Liaison
Officers (which includes maintaining the website).
5.4 The committee has
the right to fill vacant posts as required which must be ratified at the next
public meeting.
6. Money Management
6.1 All spending by the committee must go through Treasurer, who makes
sure the club stays within its financial limits.
6.2 Any fully paid up
member is entitled to request to see any of the clubs financial records after
applying in writing and giving four weeks (one public meeting) notice.
7. Extraordinary General Meeting
7.1 Any petition of five fully paid up members can call an extraordinary general meeting, which will be held at the next available public meeting. The committee shall endeavour to inform other members of this meeting.
